Year of the Tiger tattoos
By Aj 2008
Tattoos are becoming increasingly popular and underpin many people's way of life. There are many Tattoo Communities and membership sites on the web that attest to this fact. People who are serious about their tattoos and what they mean to them will spend weeks, even months looking for or designing a tattoo that will reflect their personality and/or what is important to them. They will take their time to find their unique and personal tiger tattoo design. February 14 2010 was not only Valentine's Day, it was also Chinese New Year, which heralded in The Year of the Tiger. Tiger tattoos have become very popular, probably in part due to the fact that Angelina Jolie has a tiger on her lower back. Football celebrity David Beckham has also helped to make Chinese symbol tattoos popular, since he had a saying by Confuscious tattooed on his left side. However, David Beckham will have been very careful to ensure that the symbols he used actually translated into the saying he chose: "death and life have determined appointments, riches and honor depend upon heaven" Because the Chinese language has so many different interpretations, depending on the combination of symbols used, it is a huge mistake to simply log onto a Chinese symbol website and think you can put together a name or phrase. You MUST get a qualified professional translator to do it for you. You don't want to end up like Britney Spears. She thought she was getting a symbol that meant "mysterious". She ended up with a symbol that meant "strange"! However, properly done, then adding Chineses symbols to your Chinese tiger tattoo can make the design into a truly unique and personal Year of the Tiger Tattoo.

I dunno. I guess I don't understand the whole idea of why people would want tattoos in the first place. But that's just me...
Since tatoos are permanent, I think it would definitely be wise to spent a lot of time choosing one. Good tip regarding the need to get a prof. translator to help with a Chinese tatoo. Having a "strange" label on your body for life, would be distressing for sure.
I think some of the young who get tattoos now will regret it as they get older when Saggin' and Baggin' sets in.
